Preamble. *Wereas the multiplicity of law suits, that has accumulated in the Courts of Justice at New Orleans, is in a great measure attributable to the inability of a single sheriff to perform the duties now devolved on him; and whereas the growing commercial business of the City of New Orleans, and the rapid increase of its population render a prompt and efficient administration of justice of vital im- portance; and whereas this desirable end will likewise be promoted by having the different Courts sitting in the City of New Orleans, located as near to each other as practicable, and by establishing a uniform mode of fixing, causes for trial in said Courts SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and .House of Rep- resentatives of the State of Louisiana in General Assembly Creation of convened, That two additional Sheriffs shall be and are hereby rlfor the created in and for the Parish of Orleains, to wit; one for the Parish of Or. District Court of the first judicial District, who shall be styled The Sheriff of the District Court of the first District, and one for the Commercial Court of New Orleans, to be styled The Sheriff of the Commercial Court of New Orleans who shall be the officers of said Courts respectively, and outies, shall perform all the duties in and appertaining to their said respective Courts, which are now performed by the Sheriff of the Parish of Orleans, and shall be entitled to demand and receivethe same fees as are allowed by law to said Sheriff for similar services. SEc. 2. Be itfurther enacted, c.
