No, 67.-AN ACT to incorporate the town of Shreveport, and
to change the name of the seat of justice in the parish of
Caddo, the town of Grand Echore, and supplementary to the
several Acts for the government of the town of St. Francis-
ville.
SECT 1. Be it enacted by the    enate and House of
Representatives of the State of Louisiana, in general as-

and that all the free white inhabitants of said town, are
hereby declared to be a body corporate, by the name

the town of shall be known in law, and be capable of suing and
Shreveport.  being sued, and of defending in all courts and in all ac-
tions and matters whatever, and may have a common

sure, and by the same name shall be capable of holding
and conveying any estate, real or personal, for the use of
said corporation, and of erecting within said town, pub-
lic buildings for the use of the same; Provided, that such
real estate shall be within the limits of said town.
SECT, 2.    Be it furher enacted, &c., - That there

assessor, a constable, who shall be collector of taxes, a
surveyor, and as many other subordinate officers, not
herein mentioned, for preserving the peace and well or-

who shall hold their office during one year.
S ECT. 3. Be 7t further. enacted, &c., That all the
