sissippi, from Baton Rouge to bayou Manshac, or such other road
districts, as may apply to the Police Jury to be governed by the
old law.
SECT. 2. Be it further enacted, etc. That the amount to lie
levied on each district to be equal to the work due to the road,
calculating the labor of a hand at one dollar per day, and ad-
ding an amount to cover fees for collecting, &c.
Duty of the She- SECT. 3. BC it further enacted, etc. That the tax is to be
reaurdrParish collected by the sherifl, and the parish treasurer to keep a sepa-
rate account for each road district.
What hands SECT, 4. Bc it further Cnacted, etc. That the hands subject
compelled to to road duty, shall be compelled to work the time required by
work. the old law, when the overseer thinks it necessary, but that for
every day after their own tax is paid, each hand shall receive

SecT. 5. Be it further enacted, etc. That when any road
district has any money in the Treasury the overseer may em-
ploy hands with the consent of throo persons living in the dis-
trict, at one dollar per day to keep ti1e road in good order.
SECT. 6. Bec it further enacted, etc. That where two public
roads pass through a tract of land, the money or labor to be ap-
plied lor the benefit of the road travelled by the person living
on the land, or if non resident, to the road most useful to the
public.
SECT. 7. And be it further enacted, etc. That all laws or
parts of laws, contrary to the provisions of this Act, be, and the
same are hereby repealed.

of the State of Louisiana, in General Assembly convened, That
