An Act
To provide for the necessary repairs on the State CapItal and Publh
Offices.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted, by the Senate and House of
Representatives of the State of Louisiana, in General Assembly
convened; That the sum of fifteen thousand one hundred and
twenty dollars and fifty cents be and the same is hereby appro-
priated for the purposes of making such repairs and alterations
and additions to the state capital as are proposed i6l the plans
made by the state engineer, and reported by the committee to
whom was referred the subject, in connection with this bill: and
that the further sum of two thousand one hundred and eighty
seven dollars be and the same is hereby appropriated for the pur-
pose of placing now roofs on the two public offices in the govern-
ment square, to be paid out of any monies in the treasury not
otherwise appropriated.
SECT. 2. And be it further enacted, 4c. That the gover-
nor, treasurer, secretary of State and civil engineer by whom
the plans were prepared, shall constitute a board of commis-
sioners for the purpose of carrying into execution the objects of
of this bill, who shall pass upon all accounts, and give their
warrant on the treasury for the payment of the same.

Resolution.
Resolved, by the Senate and House of Representatives of
the State of Louisiana, in General Assembly convened, That the
Attorney General be, and he is hereby requested to examine
certain publications, that have been for some time industriously
circulated in the State, entitled Report of the committee to
whorn was referred the subject of the religious instruction of
thu colored population, and Annual report of the Missionary
to the Negroes; and that, if he deems the distribution of them
to be a violation of an Act, naproved the sixteenth March, one
thoiusand eieht lindred and thirty, and of the other laws of the
State, tln to take such masures as may be necessary to bring
the offender or offenders to punishment.
