Be it-enacted by the senate and house of representativcs of the state fund of Louisiana ingeneral asseinbly convened, That a sum of money not exceed- iig five thousand dollars, be, and the same is hereby set apart, as a contingent fund for the use of the governor; and the state treasurer is authorised to pay the whole, or a part of said sum, on the warrant or warrants of said governor, whenever the public use will require it; Provided, that at the next session of the legislature, the governor shall,-as heretofore, submit an account, specif7- ing the employment of the sum by him received from the treasurer, pursuant to to this section. That the mulatto slave, Moses, belonging to Ambroise Brou, residing in the parish of St. Gharles, be and the same is here- Ie oest by emancipated and set free, as a reward for his fidelity, by having discovered certait plots, threatening the tranquility of the state; and it is hereby made the duty of the state treasurer to pay to the said Ambroise Brou, on his own war- rant, odt of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum at tifteen hundred dollars, being the amount of the appraisement of said slave, and that a further sum of one hundred dollars, as a gift from the state, be paid by the treasurer of the state to the said mulatto Moses, on the warrant of his for- mer owner, countersigned by the parish judge of St. Charles. Sec. 8. Be it further enacted, &c. That the sum of eighty-seven dollars and Sum allowed fifty six cents shall be paid by the state treasurer, to the order of Francis Cal- t 'I55 lam, late deputy sheriff of the parish of St. Landry, for conveying from said. parish, to the state prison in New-Orleans, the slave Jack; sentenced to death, in said parish; but whose punishment was commuted to hard labor for life. Sec. 9. Be it further enacted &c. That the treasurer of the state be, and he is hereby authorised and directed to pay to the order of John Smith of the parish Sum allowed of Ouichita, out ofany moneys in the treasury'not otherwise appropriated, the to J.
