handle is hein.slavery/ssactsla0144 and id is 1 raw text is: 32 trictin the paish of Concordia, to keep a faithful record in a well bound book of all acts passed before them, which acts, (except such as contain mortgalge_ or relate to immoveable property, certified copies of which must be recorded agree- ably to law,) shall have full force and effect against third persons from the date of their respective records: and it shall also be the duty of the said notaries, on or before the expiration of thirty days for the parish of St. Landry, and of nine- ty days for thts parish of Concordia, after the execution of all acts passed be- f9re them, respectively, except as aforesaid, such as contain mortgages, or re- late to immoveable property, to transmit to the judges of their respectiv.e parish- Fees alloweues, abstracts sufficiently explanatory of each of said acts, which abstracts it is hereby made the duty ofsaid judges, to put on record, and for which they shall be entitled to receive from the said notaries respectively, fees at the rate of twelve and an half cents for every hundred words. Fees a Snc. 5. Be it further enacted, &c. That the sail notaries, for the Calcasion e e district, in the parish of St. Landry, and for the northern district of the parish of of Concordia Concordia, shall be entitled to charge and receivein addition to the fees ullowed- and Calca-by law for executing such acts ,the following to wit: For making abstracts und Sion attaching the seal to the same, fifty cents; for recording abstracts in the office of the parish judge, at the rate of twelve and an half cents, for Zach and every hundred words. authorised to Sjge. 6. And be itfurther enacted, &c. That the governor be, ard he is hereby cornmission authorised to appoint and commission -the notaries public, whose offices are under this crected by this act, in the manner prescribed in the aetentitled '14n act, author- act, ising the governor to make certain appointments, approved Sept. 5th, 18112. SEc. 7 Be itfurther enacted, 4.c, That so much of the act, entitled 'An act, Rpealing supplementary to several acts, providing for the appointment of notaries public, cause. approved March 15th, 1822, as creates the office of notary public, for the office of parish judge of St. Iindry, be and the same is hereby repealed. AN, ACT relative to the introduction of certain Slaves in this State. Whereas R. B. Hyde, a. citizen ani inhabitant of thisstate, wishes-to introduce into this state, for his own use, twenty-five slaves, now employed in tie section of country lately given by the United States to the Chootaw Indians, west of the territory of Arkansas, and without the jurisdiction of any state or territory; which circumstance renders it impossible for him to comply with the provisions of an act, entitled An act, relative to the introduction of slaves in tbis state aud for other purposes,' approved the 31st of January, 1829, Sec. 1. Be it enacted by the senate and houseof representatives of the state of Louisiana in general assembly convenqd, That instead of the certificate and oath which the aforesaid act requires to be given and signed by two or more freeholders of the county from which the slaves may have been brought, the said R. B. Hyde, be and he is hereby authorised to make the proof required by said act, by any other legal testimony, and before any judge or justice of the peace in this state, or in the territory of Arkansas.
