AN ACT (o repeal an act to prohibit the introduction of slaves for sale
in this State.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Reresentatives of
the State of Louisia-a, in General Assembly convened. Th,
the act to prohibit the introduction of Slaves for sale in this
state, be, and the same is, hereby repealed.

NO. 12.
AN ACT to authorize widows and unmarried women of age, to become
sureties or endorsers for other persons.
WHEREAS, by a late decision of the Supreme Court it has
been held, that the old laws of this land,, which incapacitated
widoivs and unmarried women of age frorirr4conuing sureties,
or from binding themselves in any way for other persons, are
still in force, not having been expressly abrogated by the new
civil code, and whereas, in consequence of such a decision,
the several banks have refused tb receive any longer the en-
dorsements of women, although of age and unmarried, which
creates much embarrassment to the latter in the transaction
of their own affairs:
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of
the State of Louisiana, in Ge eral Assembly convened, That
hereafter it shall be lawful fo  widows and unmarried women
of age to bind themselves as sureties or endorsers for other
persons, in the same manner, and with the same validity, as
men who are of full age, any law to the contrary notwithstand-
ing.
