other officers, after the expiration of their term of service, shall continue to
continuen perform  the duties of their offices respectively, until their  uc-

existing laws; so that no interruption may occur in the dis-
charge of any public duty required by said offices, under the
same penalties, bonds, obligations and securities as were giv-
en and entered by them at the time they were first appointed
to said offices.

necessary returns, and that this act shall be in force from and

AN ACT To amend the penal laws of this state.
Be it enacted by the Senate and Iouse of Representatives of
the slate of Louisiana, in general assembly convened, That
from and after the passage of this act, no white person with-
in the limits of this state, shall be sentenced to public pxpo-
sure at the pilory, which is hereby abolished, in as much as it
concerns white persons only; all laws to the contrary notwith-
standing.
