AN ACT to authorise the maiumission of certain slaves, Whereas Marie Marthe, a free woman of colour, of the parish of West Baton Rouge,has presented a petition to the Legislature pray- ing to be authorised to manumit two of her children one named Te- enceof twenty six years of age, and the other named Valery oftwen- tyfour years of age, both being her own property and begotten whilst the said Marie Marthe was in the bonds of slavery; and whereas in conformity with the existing laws of this state, slaves cannot be manumitted until they have attained a certain age, Therefore, SECTION 1.
