AN ACT
7o prevent fiersoansfrom being eed in certain cas#s s7utfe,
other fpuriosse.
SECT. 1. Be it enacted by the senate and house of repre,
sentatives af the state of Louisiana in general aesembly con-
vened, That no person or persons having a permanent resi-
deace shall be sued in any civil action in any other parish
but that wherein he, she or they shall habitually reside, any
law to the contrary notwithstanding.
Secr. 2 . wind be it further enacted, That when the judge
of any district court shall be interested in any cause, or shall
have been of councif therein, or from any other cause not
able to attend court, it shall be the duty of one of the judts
of tho two adjoining districts to attend on a d-ky by him or
the sheriffof the parish to be fixed and procecd to the trial
of said cause or causes in which the said judge may be inte-
rested or in whick he may have been previously employed
or consulted a& counsel in the same manner as the judge of
said court would have done, had he not been interested or of
counsel; as also in the event of the absence of the district
judge from sickness, resignation or any other cause, to pro-
ceed to the trial of all causes which may be fxxed for trtd i
the same manner- as the judge of the said court woiuld have
done, had he been present. any thing in the seventh section
ofthe act supplementary to the act entitled,  an act to orga
nze the supreme court of the strtte of Louisiana, and to as-
tablish courts of inferior jurisdiction, to the contrary not,
withstanding.
SECT. 3. And be it fqriter enacted, That no appeal shall.
be received from, nor any injunctions shall be granted a-
gainst any judgemen's that may be rendered by the parish
courts in police matters, adjudging a fine by virtue of the,
regulations concerning levees, when the penakierrordered by
said judgment do not exceed the snm of one hundred dollars.
