1858.                       CHAPTER 285.
AN ACT to incorporate the Pocahontas Tribe, No. 3, of the Improved
Orderof Red Men, at Newport.
Whereas, it is laudable to associate together for such
humane and benevolent purposes as to attend upon and
provide for the indigent sick and afflicted, to bury the
dead, protect and provide for the widow, and educate the
orphans. Therefore, to carry out the aforesaid purposes,
and none other, in the city of Newport,
Be it enacted by the IGeneral Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky :
§ 1. That John Butcher, Henry Ritte, Louis Faass,
Corporatename and their associates, be and they are hereby created a
and powers,  body corporate, by the name and style.-of  Pocahontas
Tribe, No. 3, of the Improved Order of Red Men; and
they and their associates and successors shall so continue
and have perpetual succession, and by that name are made
capable in law, as natural persons, to sue and be sued,
plead and be impleaded, contract and be contracted with,
answer and be answered, in all courts of law and equity in
this Commonwealth; to make, have and use a common
seal, and the same to break, alter, or amend at pleasure.
They may make and ordain regulations and by-laws for
their government, and those now in force in said Tribe
to alter when deemed proper, and may change and re-
new the same at pleasure: Provided, They be not in con-
travention of the constitution and laws of the United
States or of this State.
.§ 2. The said corporation shall have power and au-
May hold real thority to acquire and hold real and personal estate, not
tate    0- exceeding five thousand dollars in value, and from time
to time, if deemed expedient, sell and convey the same,
or any part thereof, and to reinvest or dispose of the
proceeds.
§ 3. The right. to alter, amend or repeal this act is
hereby reserved to the General Assembly. This act to
take effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 286.
AN ACT to amend the charter of the town of Concord, in Lewis county.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky:
§ 1. That on the first Monday in August, 1858, -and on
May elect Po- that day of the month every fourth year thereafter, the
lice Judge.  qualified voters of the town of Concord, in the county of
Lewis, shall elect a Police Judge for said town, who shall
hold his office for the same time that County Judges are
allowed by law to hold theirs.
