CHAPTER 272.                       1858.
AN ACT for the benefit of James Faulkner.
Whereas, it is represented to the General Assembly of
the Commonwealth of Kentucky that James Faulkner, of
Whitley county, has of late years become greatly embar-
rassed in his pecuniary affairs, and that said Faulkner is
the owner of some landed estate; and whereas, said
Faulkner, some two or three years ago, bought a negro
woman and child in the State of Tennessee, and is not
allowed to sell them under five years. Now, to enable
said Faulkner to sell said negroes for the purpose of sav-
ing his land from being'sold to pay off his debts, there-
fore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky:
That the said Faulkner be and he is hereby authorized
to sell said slaves without incurring the penalties de-
nounced by law against persons buying slaves in other
States, for their own use, who sell them before five years
expire. This act to take effect from its passage.

CHAPTER 275.
AN ACT for the benefit of the proprietors of the Union White Sulphur
Springs.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky :
§ 1. That it shall be the duty of the Union County Lln to kop
Court to grant, to the proprietors of the Union White bowling saloon
Sulphur Springs, in Union County, a license to keep a to be grantd.
bowling saloon at said Springs.
§ 2. That said proprietors of said Springs shall, before
said license is granted, execute a covenant payable to
the'Commonwealth of Kentucky, in the sum of two thous-
and dollars, conditioned that no betting of any kind shall
be done on any game in said bowling saloon, and shall
pay a tax to the Clerk of the Union County Court of
twenty-five dollars per year, which shall be accounted
for by said Clerk as other revenue collected by him.
§ 3. That no license shall be granted under this act for
a longer period than one year.
