CHAPTER 64t.                          1854.
AN ACT to amend an act, entitled, an act tp amend an act prescribing the
means and mode of opening and working roads in the county of Boone.
1. Be it enacted byq the General Assembly of the Common-  Act of Febru
art 11, 1&54, a-
wealth of Kentucky, That an act to amend an act prescribing 'mende,
the means and mode of opening and working roads in the
county of Boone, approved February 1 th, 1854, be amend-
ed as follows :
§ 2. That said act shall not take effect until the first  Whbn to take
Monday in October, 1854, and on that day shall have full effect.
and entire effect, and shall be in force thereafter.
§ 3. That it shall be the duty of the assessor for Boone  Duty of aszs
county, in the year 1855, and every year thereafter, to   ot oone co.
open two columns in his list book of taxable property, in
one of which he shall designate all the white males in said
county between the ages of sixteen and fifty years; in the
other all the male slaves over sixteen years of age, and
free males of color over the same age, and he shall desig-
nate by whom said slaves are owned.
§ 4. The county court of said county, at its court of   His compene-
claims in the year 1855, and every year thereafter, shall tfon.
allow the assessor a reasonable compensation for such ser-
vices as he shall have performed under the provisions of
this act, which allowance shall be paid out of the county
levy.
§ 5. Such of the provisions of the act to which this is
an amendment as conflict with the provisions of this act,
are hereby repealed.
§ 6. This act shall take effect from and after its pass-
age.

CHAPTER 649.
AN ACT for the benefit of Catharine Green, a free woman of color; in Ma
son county.
WHEREAS, it has been represented to the general assem-
bly of the commonwealth of Kentucky that Catharine
Green, a free woman of color, in Mason county, has pur-
chased her daughter, Harriet, and imported her, for her
own use, from Missouri into Kentucky, as a slave; and
that she has failed to present to the clerk of said county
the name, age, and sex of said Harriet, with her verifica-
tion as to those facts; and that she has further failed to
take the oath, prescribed in such cases, in the sixth section
of article second, of chapter 93, of the Revised Statutes.
Therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky, That the said purchase, by Catharine Green,
of her daughter Harriet, is hereby ratified and confirmed:
