SEC. 2. Be it .further enacted, That it shall be lawful for  1849.
The Louisville Orphans' Home Society to establish and
adopt, for their better regulation, a constitution, and all constittadopt
sdch by-laws as they may deem expedient, (not inconsis- by-laws.
tent with the constitution of the United States, and State
of Kentucky, nor repugnant to the laws of this Common-
wealth,) prescribing the organization of the Society, the ap-  Number, d-
pointment of its officers, their duties and responsibilities, ties, &c., or of.
the terms and conditions of membership, the privileges and Acers to be fixed
duties of the beneficiaries who may be received into the by by laws.
Institution, and every other matter connected with the fis-
cal, prudential, and moral government of said Society.
And the constitution and by-laws, so adopted, shall be as
binding on said Society, and all persons contracting with it,
as if enacted by the General Assembly of the Common-
wealth of Kentucky.
SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That it shall be lawful for  Orphans may,

the several County Courts of this Commonwealth, and also, ciety.
for the Louisville Police Court, to bind orphans, and other
destitute children, to the Louisville Orphans' Home Society,
upon such reasonable terms and conditions as may be
agreed on by the Courts and said Society.

CHAPTER 508.
AN ACT for the benefit of Isham lones.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky, That ]sham Jones, of Whitley county, is here-
by permitted to bring into this State, from the State of
South Carolina, a boy slave, named George, withoutincur-
ring the penalties of the act of 1833, against the importa-
tion of slaves into this State: Provided, That this act shall
not take effect until said Jones shall file, with the Clerk of
the Whitley County Court, his affidavit, that said slave is
not brought into this State for merchandise, within sixty
days from the time said slave is brought in: And, provided
further, That said Jones shall not hire out or sell said slave
for eighteen months after he is brought in.

AN ACT for the benefit of A. M. Vanarsdell, of Mercer county.
Be it enacted by the General Assemblyt of the Commonwealtk
of Kentucky, That Abram M. Vanarsdefl, of Mercer county,
be, and he is hereby authorized to import into this State, a
boy slave, named Joe: Provided, That said Vanarsdell
