CHAPTER 486.                           1849.
AN ACT for the benefit of J. S. Golladay, of Logan county.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Common-
wealth of Kentucky, That J. S. Golladay, of Logan county,
be and'he is hereby allowed to import into this State, a boy
slave named Russell: Provided, That he shall, within sixty
days, file his affidavit with any Justice of the Peace in and
for said county, that he imported said slave for his own use,
and not for merchandise; and that he will not sell said
slave within five years.

CHAPTER 487.
AN ACT for the benefit of Frederick Mayberry.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonweallh
qf Kentucky, That Frederick Mayberry, of Ballard county,
is hereby allowed to import into this State, a woman slave
named Esther, and her children, Clara and Amanda.; and,
upon his taking the oath required, by law, within sisty days
after the passage of this act, is released from all liability
for importing said slaves, and provided he does not sell said
slaves, or either of them, in this Commonwealth, for the pe-
riod of five years, and shall take an oath to that effect.

CHAPTER 489.
AN ACT to regulate the duties of the Police JXdge of the town of
New Liberty, and for other purposes
SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Com-
monwealth of Kentucky, That the Police Judge of the town     Jurisdiction,
of New Liberty, in the county of Owen, shall have jurisdic- extended.
tion, within said county, of civil causes, to the same extent
that Justices of the Peace now have in this Commonweafth
-with such jurisdiction, in other cases, as is given him by
the act establishing the office; and that he, and his succes-
sor, shall have the same powers over the records of their-
predecessors, that Justices of Peace now have in similar'
cases.
