CHAPTER 428.
AN ACT for the benefit of Mrs. Leavy and her children.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky, That, on the petition of John F. Leavy, and
wife, and Richard Hawes, the Judge of the Franklin Cir-
cuit Court may decree the sale of slaves devised to said
Hawes, in trust for the wife of said Leavy, by her father,
during her life-remainder to her heirs: Provided, The said
Judge shall be of opinion that such sale will be advanta-
geous to her and her children: And, provided also, That her
children be made parties to said petition, and that the pro-
ceeds of the sale shall be re-invested in real estate, with
the legal title in said Hawes, in trust for the said Mrs.
Leavy, for life-remainder to her children.
Approved February 24, 1849.
CHAPTER 429.
AN ACT for the benefit of' the Mechanics of Nicholas county.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of .tie Commonwealth
of Kentucky, That all the benefits provided for the carpen-
ters, joiners, brick masons, stone masons, painters, plaster-
ers, turners, brick makers, lumber merchants, and all other
persons performing labor, or furnishing materials for the
construction or repair of any buildings in the town of Cov-
ington and Newport, approved February 22d, 1834, are
hereby extended and provided for all such persons in Nich-
olas county who may do work, or provide materials for any
building in said county, as is described in said act, and
liens are hereby given upon farms in said county, in the
same manner as liens are given upon lots in said towns.

CHAPTER 431.
AN ACT for the benefit of Jordan Middleton, and William Ratliff.
SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Corn-
monwealth of Kentucky, That Jordan Middleton, of Lincoln  . Middleton.
county, is hereby permitted to bring into this State, from
the State of South Carolina, six slaves, without incurring
the penalty of the act of 1833: Provided, Said Middleton
shall, within sixty days after said slaves are brought in,
