1849.   scribe for stock in the Newtown and Lexington Turnpike,
to any amount not exceeding five thousand dollars, the
said Court may levy the sum subscribed on the real estate
in said county, and that the Directors of said Company
may borrow, for completing said road, any sum not exceed-
ing five thousand dollars, and may give a mortgage on the.
road as collateral security for the money so borrowed.

CHAPTER 218.
AN ACT to revive an act to incorporate a Company to construct a
Turnpike from Lancaster to Crab Orchard.
Be it enactedby the General Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky, That an act, entitled, an act to incorporate a
Turnpike Road Company from Lancaster to Crab Orchard,
be and the same is hereby 6xtended and continued in its
operation until the first 4ay of January, 1856.

CHAPTER 219.
AN ACT for.the benefit of Julia E. Crowdus.
* Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky, That Julia E. Crowdus, of Simpson county,
widow of John A. Crowdus, deceased, is hereby authorized
.and'permitted to hire out, from year to year, in the State
of Tennessee, such of the slaves as she may think proper,
* belonging to the estate of her late husband, the said John
A. Crowdus, deceased, as have been allotted to her for her
dower, without incurring any forfeiture or divesture of her
dower estate in and to said slaves: Provided, lwwever,
That the said Julia E. Crowdus shall not be permitted
to remove, or hire out, said slaves, out of this Common-
wealth, until she shall have executed bond in the Clerk's
office of the Simpson County Court, bond with good and
sufficient sureties, to be approved by the Clerk of said
Court, to the children and heirs of said John A. Crowdus,
deceased, in a penalty double the value of the slaves
intended to be hired out, conditioned to indemnify them
against all loss by the* reason of such hiring out said
slaves in said State of Tennessee.
