CHAPTER 79.                          1849.
AN ACT allowing an additional Justice.of the 'Peace to the courtty
of Pike.
WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assembly, that
there is needed a Justide of the Peace on Pond Creek, in
the county of Pike. For remedy whereof,
Be it enacted by the G-ncrol Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky, That there shall be allowed to the county of
Pike an additional Justice of the Peace.
Approved January 22, 1849.'
CHAPTER 81.
AN ACT for the benefit of Wilson Hackney.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky, That Wilson Hackney, of Warren county, is
hereby permitted to import into this State, from the State of
Tennessee, a negro woman named Louisa, and her two
children, Daniel Webster and David Taylor: Provided,
Said Hackney shall, within sixty days after such importa-
tion, file, in the Clerk's office of the Warren County Court,
his affidavit, that he has not imported said slaves for trade
or speculation : And, provided .trther, That said Hackney
shall not be permitted to sell said slaves, to remain within
this State, within five years after such importation.

CHAPTER 82.
AN ACT for the benefit of Albert A. Boswell, of Graves county.
Be it enacted by tie General Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky, That Albert A. Boswell, of Graves county, be
allowed to import into this State a negro man slave named
Nick, without incurring the penalty of the act of 1833
against the importation of slaves into this State: Provided,
He shall, within sixty days from the passage of this act, make
an affidavit, before some Justice of the Peace for Graves
county, that his object, in importing said slave, was not to
make merchandise of him; and have such affidavit recorded
in the Clerk's office of the County Court of said county
within thirty days: Provided, That said slave shall not be
sold to remain in this State, within five years from the pas-
sage of this act.
