1849.                        CHAPTER 3.
AN ACT to change the name of William Cobb.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky, That, upon the petition of Y. 0. Booker, of
Oreen county, acknowledging himself to be the father of
William Cobb, an illegitimate son of Elizabeth Cobb, the
name of the aforesaid child be changed to William Book-
er; and he is legitimatized and made capable of inheriting
all the lands, tenements, goods, chattels, rights and credits
of the said Y. 0. Booker, in as fall and ample manner as if
born in lawful wedlock.

CHAPTER 4.
AN ACT for the benefit of R. G. Fletcher, of McCracken county.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth
Fletcerher, and his security,
hi! securities re. -
leaed,    shall be and they are hereby released and discharged from
the payment of the principal, interest and cost, of an exe-
cution which issued from the Clerk's office of the McCrack-
en Circuit Court, on the 17th April, 1848, for the sum of
two hundred and ten dollars, on a sale bond executed by
said Fletcher, with T. F. Terrell as security, payable to the
Commonwealth of Kentucky, being the purchase price for
a negro man named William King, supposed to have been
a runaway slave, and sold by the Sheriff of McCracken
county, under the act of the General Assembly of Ken-
tucky, approved January 11 th, 1845, reducing into one the
several acts for the apprehending and securing runaways;
said negro, upon bill filed in the McCracken Circuit Court,
having established thefact of his freedom at the time of the
sale and execution of said bond. The Sheriff of said
county is hereby required to return said execution, with his
written endorsement thereon, in accordance with the pro-
visions of this act: Provided, That nothing herein contain-
ed shall prevent the collection, by the Commonwealth of
Kentucky, of the amount of said bond, with interest and
cost, in the event said suit should be further prosecuted,
and said negro, (William King,) be decided to be a slave
for life.
