use, and not for merchandise; which affidavit shall be re-
corded in the office of the Clerk of the Hart County Court.

tion, he shall be deemed guilty of importing slaves for mer-
chandise, and liable to the penalties of said offence.

CHAPTER 421.
AN ACT for the benefit of the administrator of Charles Carter, de-
ceased.
SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Com-
monwealth of Kentucky, That the legal title to all the lands deceased tvested
within this State, belonging to Charles Carter, deceased, (a in administra-
tor, and he au.
free man of color,) late of. the county of Boyle, at the time thorized to sell
of his death, be and the same is hereby vested in A. M. meovey the
Williams, the administrator, with the will annexed, of the
estate of said deceased; and he is hereby authorized to sell
and convey the same; and any conveyance thereof, by him,
in the usual form of the conveyances of real estate, within
this State, shall be held and deemed good and valid: Pro- Bondtobeex.
