CHAPTER 46P.
AN ACT for the benpfit of John R. Depha and Samuel W. Ratqher.  1 4'7
SL~c. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Com-
monwealth of Kentucky, That it shall be lawful for John R.
Desha to bring into this State, from the State of Arkansas, a
negro woman named Mary, and her two children, without in.
curring any penalty thereby: Provided, The said Desha shall,
within thirty days after their arrival, make oath before some
Justice of the Peace in this Commonwealth, that he brought
them into the State for his own use, and not as merchandise;
and it shall be his duty to have said affidavits recorded in the
Clerk's office of the County Court in the county where he re-
sides.
SEC. 2. Be itfurtherenacted, That Samuel W. Hatcher, of
Todd county, be and he is hereby permitted to bring into this
State his negro man slave (Tarlton,) without incurring the
penalties of any law prohibiting the importation of slaves:
Provided, Said Hatcher, within thirty days thereafter, shall
file, in the Todd County Court Clerk's office, his affidavit in
writing, that he did not bring said slave into this State for
merchandise, but for his own use.

AN ACT to amend the tow in reference to the town of topkinsviile, and for
other purposes.
Src. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Com-
monwealth qf Kentucky, That the provisions of an act, enti- Shelbyvilte to

same are hereby applied to the town of Hopkinsville, in Chris-
tian county, as fully and to the same extent, as if the different
sections of said act were here repeated and incorporated; and
that all acts heretofore passed in reference to said town, which
may in any wise conflict with the provisions of this act, be and
the same are hereby repealed.
Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, That the Governor shall, Police Judge

point a Police Judge for said town of Hopkinsville, under the ed: o.s&
same rules and regulations, and who shall possess the same
powers, and receive the same emoluments, in Hopkinsville,
conferred upon the Police Judge of Shelbyville, and exercised
and enjoyed in Shelbyville: Provided, That the powers and
jurisdiction conferred upon the Police Judge of Hopkinsville
shall be confined to the limits of said town, and shall be the
same as the power and jurisdiction conferred on the Police
Judge of Shelbyville, to the extent of the limits of said town.
Sc. 3. Be it further enacted, That the Trustees of the
town of Mayfield, in Graves county, shall be and they are
