CHAPTER 103,
AN ACT for the benefit of Thomas WVoodford.    1847
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commontwealth
of Kentucky, That Thomas Woodford of th6 county of Bout.
bon, be and he is hereby permitted to bring into this State,
from the State of Virginia, a negro girl named Caroline, the
property of said Woodford, without incurring the penalties
of an act, entitled, an act to prohibit the importation of
slaves into this Commonwealth, passed in the year 1833:
Provided, this act shall not take eflbct until the said Wood-
ford shall file, with the Clerk of the Bourbon County Court, his
affidavit that said slave is not brought into this State for mer-
chandise.
Approved January 30, 1847.
CHAPTER 105.
AN ACT to amend the road laws or Clarke county,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky, That, hereafter, it shall be lawful, and it is made
the duty of the County Court of Clarke county to pay for
damage done to any plough, whilst in use, in ploughing and
repairing the roads in said county, out of the county levy:
Provided, that the Surveyor be required to assess such dam-
age, and the County Court shall have the power to re-value
the same, if in their opinion said damage is iiiproperly assess-
ed.

CHAPTER 107.
AN ACT to amend an nct, entitled, an act to amend the road law of Kenton.
Src. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Com-
.monivealth of Kentucky, That, hereafter, when the Surveyors
shall have returned their respective delinquent lists, the same
shall be copied, and delivered by the Clerk of the County Court
to the Sheriff, or any Constable of the county, who shall pro-
ceed to collect the same by distress, in the same manner that
Sherifls are authorized to collect the county levy; and no pro-
perty shall be exempt from said distress. The oflicer receiv-
ing said tax lists shall account for the same, and make due re-
turn thereof to the County Court, on or before the third term
after receiving the same; and i( any officer shall fail to collect
and pay over to the Surveyors the respective amounts due
their districts, within the time of making said return, that is
collectable, he and his sureties, or any of them, shall be liable
to pay the same and ten per centum thereon, to be recovered
in the name of th6 Commonwealth, by motion in the County
Court, on five days notice, The County Attorney shall prosti-
