CHAPTER 219.
AN ACT for the benefit of Samuel Lawler.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealtk
of Kentucky, That Samuel Lawler is hereby released from
all the penalties of an act to prevent the importation of slaves
into this State, approved on the second day of February, eigh-
teen hundred and thirty three, incurred by reason of the said
Lawler's having purchased a negro woman slave, and her five
children, who were purchased by the said Lawler after having
been imported into this State: Provided, that said Lawler
shall make oath, before the Clerk of the County Court in
which he resides, that he did not know that said slaves had
been brought into this State, from another State or country,
at the time he purchased them; which affidavit shall be filed in
the said Clerk's office.
