CHAPTER 39.
AN ACT to establish an Election Precinct in the county of Jefferson.
Be it enacted by the General A.ssembly of the Common-
wialth of Kentucky, That an election precinct be, and the
same is hereby, established in the county of Jefferson, at the
house of Mathew Leach, situated on the Louisville and Bards-
town Turnpike road; and the laws of this Commonwealth, on
the subject of elections, shall be observed in all elections that
shall be held at said precinct.

CHAPTER 40,
AN ACT for the benefit of the widow and heirs otEdward Payne, deceased.
WHBREAS, it is represented to the present General Assem,
bly, That Edward Payne, late of the county of Christian, died
possessed of certain town lots and lands, a valuable negro
man slave, and some other property, and was indebted to so
groat an extent, that it will require a sale of the said slave, or
a portion of the said land, to pay his debts; and that the Cir-  Preamble.
euit Court of Christian county has, by proper petition of the
said heirs, by their guardian, decreed a sale of the said town
lots, and a portion otthe land aforesaid, but doubted as to the
authority of the court to direct the money arising from said
sale to be applied to the payment of debts, and thus prevent
and render unnecessary the sale of said slave: And, whereas,
the said widow and heirs, and the administrator of said Payne,
have petitioned the Legislature to pass a law authorizing the
application of said money to the payment of debts, and have
represented that it would be much to the interest of the said
heirs that it should be so applied-wherefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Common- Petition court
