the commencement of said turnpike at Springfield: Provided,  1840.
that the citizens of Springfield be permitted to pass said gate,
toll free, for the purpose of watering at a certain spring in the
vicinity of said town, known by the name of Watkins' spring.

CnAr. 418.-AN ACT to extend the charter of the Bank of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky, and to authorize the appointment of a Commissioner to close the
affairs of said Bank.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky, That an act, entitled, an act to establish the
ank of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, approved Novem-
ber 29, 1820, shall be, and the same is hereby extended and
continued in force urftil the first day of January, 1842.

CoAp. 419.-AN ACT to amend the Militia Law.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky, That the first section of the Militia Law, ap-
proved February 9th, 1837, shall not be so construed as to
exempt Justices of the Peace from the performance of militia
duty.
Approved February 21, 1840.
CnAr. 420.-AN ACT for the benefit of Seburn Shaw.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky, That Seburn Shaw, of the county of Simpson,
be, and he is hereby permitted to import into this State, a ne-
gro woman, slave, and child; and that for such importation of
said slaves into this State, he shall not be subjected to the
penalty imposed by an act to prevent the importation of slaves
into this State, passed and approved on the second day of Feb-
ruary, 1833.
