the elections therein shall he held in the town of Ra-
leigh, at the house of Richard T. Jones, or any other
house in said town, designated by the county'coulrt of

CaAp. 33G.-AIN ACT for the benefit of Simon, a negro man, slave
of Charles Roseberiy.
Whereas, it is represented to the present General
Assembly, that Lucy Cotton, a free woman of color,
departed this life, in the city of Lexington, possessed  Recital,
of estate, real and personal, without issuc, and intes-
tate; and a negro man slave,named Simonthe property
of Charles Roseberry, is her only brother and relative
now living, and that lie is quite old; hut, in conse-
quence of his being a slave, he cannot inhetit or en-
joy said estate: that said Roseberry is willing to eman-
cipate said slave, upon condition that the Legislature
will enable him, the said Simon, to take, sue for, re-
cover, and enjoy, said estate, and has petitioned this
legislature for that purpose: Therefore,
