CHAP. CXXXVI.
An CT for the benefit of Benjamin Ridgeie.
Approved, December 21, 1820.
WHEREAS the said Benjamin Bridges was, Preamble,
on the 28th day of March 1 S20, appointed by the
acting governoi, of this state, agent on the part
of this state, to apply for and receive into his
custody, and conduct to the proper authority in
the county of Jefferson, one Thomas Perry, and
a negro man slave named Essex, the property
of David L. Ward, fugitives from the justice of
this state, then supposed to be in confinemeut in
the state of Ohio : And whereas the said Bridges
incurred much personal risk and trouble, and
expended considerable sums of money in pursuit
of said fugitives, and in the employment of
guards to assist in conveying back to the proper
authority in the county aforesaid, said Perry,
for all which he has not, and cannot, according
to the existing laws, receive any compensation
Therefore,
Be it enacted by the General 3ssembly of the
Commonwealth of K~entucky, That the auditor of
public accounts be, and he is hereby authorise-
and required to issue his warrant on the treas-
urer, in favor of the said Benjamin Bridges, for
the sum of one hundred and eighty dollars.
