in said town; and that it is apparent a stiffeient quan-
tity of good water may be had by sinking n well on
tile public square in said town: wherefore,
S,,c. i. Ie it enarted by the General .Alssembly of c.nty cotmp t.
the Comn-aiwtoie(lth of Ketucky, That a majority of  wedu ,
the justices of tim peace for said county concurring
in opinion at their ensuing May or J line term, may
authorise and direct a Well to be dug on the public
square in said town of Litchficld, and to defray tho
expence of which, the county court for said county
at their ensuing court of claims, shall, and they are
hereby invested with full powler to levy any sum of
money on the titheables of said county not exceed-
ing one hundred and fifty dollars, to he collected by
the sheriff of said county and applied to the diging
of said Well, and keeping the same in repair. 'This
act shaZ be in force from and after the passage.

WHEREAS it is represented, that Thomas and
Norris Metealfe, and William Tcagte stand indict-
ed in tlhe Christian circuit court with the murder of
Jim, a negro man belonging to said Norris; and ow-
ing to the prejudices existing in said county against
them, they cannot have a fair trial: for remedy
