Be it enacted by the general aebly, that if any perfon, whether the owner or hirer of a flave, fhall permit his or her flavo to go at large and hire himfelf orherfelf out, fucli owner or hirer fhall forfeit ten pounds, to be applied towards leflening the county levy ' where fuch flave iliall be found go. ing at large, and hiring himfelf or heriell as 4fprefad, to be recovered by action of debt or information, in any court of record within this commonwealth, having compe. tent jurifdi6lion ; and if after conviaion fitch flave (hall be fo fouad going at large, and hiring himfef or herfelf, theowner or hirer, as the cafe may be, fbalt again be-liable to the like penalty, to be recovered and appli- ed as aforefaid; and[f0 often after convic, tion as fuch flave fhall be found going at large and hiring himfilf or herfelf : Provid- ed, always, that if the owner or hirer afote- faid, fhall not have a fufficiency of property to difcharge the penalty afcrefaid, ftch flave fhall be liable to be fold under execution therefor. § 3t. And be it further enacted, that the fifteenth and fixteenth fe&ions of the adt, entitled ' an adt to reduce into one the fe- veral a~ls refpe6ling flaves, free negroes, mulattoes and Indians,' hall be,and the fame is hereby repealed.
