Rlesoluti)n,in relation to th establishment ofa picket line, 14c. WHEREAS, a great many slaves are constantly escaping to the enemy iu Savannah, frOm the cpunties especially through which the Army of the enemy passed ; and wiereas, the Confederate Stites Government have removed the military force heretofore stationed above Savannah, thus leaving the way to the enemy open to the unobstructed escape of the slaves: Resolved, That the Governor of this State be authorized and re- ba r'ick.quired to establish a line of mounted pickets, of such number ind resnt. at such poi'nts, as he may deem sufficient for the purpose of arrest- capeof slaves ing andpreventing the escape of slaves to the enemy. Resolved jrrther, That the Governor be, and he is hereby author- ized, to organize a Battalion of cavalry, for the purpose above mentioned, to be composed of such men in this State, ps will vol- unteer to mount and equip themselves for the purpose. Assented to March 11th, 1,865. (No. nI,) State Trra.- Resolved by the General Assembly That the Treasurer be author- trerant-ized to rent in the city ofMacon, a suitable office in which to trans- anofice in mit the busineas of his office, and to deposit the funds of the State Macen.c which he may receive during the present sessipn. Assented to Feb. 28th, 1865. (No. 32.) WHEEAxS, under the Statue of Georgia, fixing the per diem pay of members of the Legislature at six dollars per day. it was intend- ed that each member should receive the same in gold or silver coin, or its equivalent in paper money at par; And whereas, it is represented that the gold and silver is not in the Treasury to pay the membe-s: Be it therefore Resolved, That we the members release five dollars to paofof our per diem pay, and receive the other one dollar in gold or anA officers silver, or its equivalent in Treasury notes of the State of Georgia, Au',n, or its equivalent in the new issue of Confederate money; it to be estimated at the rate of thirty to one. Resolved firther, that the officers of this General Assembly be requested to relinquish five-sixths of the amount appropriated for their pay, and receive the other one-sixth, in gold or silver, or its equivalent in Georgia Treasury Notes, or its equivalent in the new issue of,the Confederate money; it to be estimated at the rate of thirty to one. Assented to March 4th, 1865.
