Sec. 11. And be it further enacted, That the following be ad- witness,! ded to the fifih section of said Charter, to-wit: And in all suits at Law or in Equity prosecuted for or against said corporation any .member thereof, not being a party in his individual character to such suit or suits, shall be a competent witness. 3. Sec. III. And beit further enacted, That five shares of stock Escheateel in the Georgia Rail-road and Banking Company, now standing in stock,&c the name of the Augusta Benevolent Society and all dividends due and unpaid thereon, which have echcated to the State in conse- quence of the dissolution of said society be, and they are hereby authorized and directed to be transferred and paid by the Cashier of said Company to the Samaritan Society of the city of Augusta to be used by them for the purposes of their Association. WHEREAS, the children tisually taken in charge by the Presi- Preamblc; dent and Vice President of the Union Society of Savannah are orphans, or of destitute parentage, And fWher'as, difficulties and expense attend the regular indenting of such children to the said Society which impose a burthen upon all concerned: 1. Section I. Be it enacted, &c., That from and after the pas- sage of this act all minor children placed in the charge of the said indentures Society by their natural guardians or next friends, or by the city authorities shall be ipso facto and to all intents and purposes in- Limit; dented and bound to said Society under its rules, until arriving at a suitable age to be bound out to useful trades, callings or occupa- tions, Provided, that the said placing in charge or binding be wit- nessed and approved by a Justice of the Inferior Court of Chatham Certificate- county, or Judge of the Superior Court, who shall give a certificate of the same under his hand, which said certificate shall be compe- tent evidence of the facts therein contained in anv Court of Law
