That said commissioners be, and are hereby authorised to levy and collect a poll tax on all the persons within the corporate limits of said town, liable to work on roads, or to do road duty, the same Poll tax, how not to exceed the sum of five dollars which said poll tax is to benppied. used by said commissioners in improving the streets and side-walks in said town, said tax shall be levied and collected in such manner as said commissioners shall prescribe.
