coffLe and  SEC. V. Be it furthe enacted, That the provisions of this Act
Emanuel. be extended to the Counties of Coffee and Emanuel.
SEC. VI. And be it further enacted, That all laws and parts
of laws militating or conflicting with the intent and spirit of this
Act, be and the same are hereby repealed.

An Act to amend the Road Laws of this State, so far as relates to
the Counties of Wilkes, Laurens, Lincoln, Columbia and
Toiggs.
SECTION I. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Represen-
tatives of the State of Georgia in General Assembly met, and itis
wnkes and hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That from and after

tics.   the passage of thisAct, the Inferior Courts, of the Counties of Wilkes,
Laurens, incoln, and Columbia and Twiggs, [-] shall appoint two
or more freeholders as Commissioners of Roads in each District, of
said Counties, who shall be notified of their appointment, as now re-
quired by law, and who shall hold their appointment for and dur-
ing the term of one year, from the time that they shall be notified
Commission. oftheir appointment, and any Commissioner who shall fail or re-
m.      fuse to accept such appointment, shall be liable to a fine of twenty
dollars, unless excused from serving, for reasons satisfactory to the
Court.
SEC. II. And be it flrther enacted, That the Commissioners of
Roads shall be and are hereby required to inspect all roads with-
Duties, &  in the limits of the District, over which they may be appointed,
after the same shall have been worked, and to report the condition
of the same to the grand jury, at the term of the Superior Court
next ensuing thereafter, under the penalty of twenty dollars.
SEC. III. And be it further enacted, That the Commissioners
of Roads shall not apportion any part of a road to any applicant
1021118, how for a less time than one year; and when any part of a road shall
apportioned. be so apportioned, said applicant shall be required to keep the
same in good order, during the term of twelve months from the
time said road was so apportioned, under the penalty of twenty
dollars.
SEC. IV. And be it further enacted, That all fines that may
be paid over to the Commissioners of Roads, or to the Inferior
Fin~es, howcor
pld.    Court, for any default in road duty, shall be applied by said Court,
to the improvement of the roads, or to the erection or repair of
bridges or causeways, within the limits of the District; and upon
the road, (if needed,) where the default and fine originated.
