Approved, February 6, 1860. - AN ACT to alter and amend the first paragraph of the sev- enth section of the first article of the Constitution of this State. WIERIEAS the first paragraph of the seventh section of the first article of the Constitution of this State, as amended in 1842 and 1843, provides that the House of Representatives shall'be composed of one hundred and thirty members; * each county shall have one representative, and no county shall have more than two representatives ; thirty-seven counties, having the greatest population, counting all free white persons and threc-fifths of the people of color, shall have two representatives, &c.: SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and Rouse of flp- resentatives of the State of Georgia in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That so soon as this bill shall have passed in accordance v 'th the requirements of the Constitution, the following shall be adopted in lieu of the first paragraph of the seventh section of the first article of the Constitution, to wit: The House of Representatives shall be as follows-Each county shall have one represoutative, and no county shall have miore than two representatives; thirty-seven counties, having the great- est population, counting all free white persons and three- fifths of the people of colour, shall have two representatives; the said apportionment shall be made by the General As- sembly o. the session next after each future enumeration of the inhabitants of this State made under the Constitution and laws thereof, but at no other time. Approved, February 23, 18.50. AN ACT to add an additional section to the first article of the Constitution. SECTCION 1. Bec it enacted by the Senate and Rouse of Rep- resentatives of the State of Georgia in.
