And be it further enacted, That the said Con- .pany shall have full power and aithority to carry such Rail Road over and across any river, creeks, waters or water cours- es, that may be in the route thereof, by any suitable bridges or other proper means : Provided, the same shall not be so con- structed as to impede the navigation thereof. SEC. 20. And be it further enacted, That the Rail Road authorized by this act, shall be commenced within two years after the passage of this act, and shall be finished widin four years after the time aforesaid ; and on failure thereof, the charter hereby granted shall be forfeited. SEC. 21. And be it further enacted, That the exclusive right granted by this act, to the Louisville Rail Road Con- pany, shall be and continue for and during the term of thirty years, to be computed from the time fixed by this act for the completion of the works authorized by said act; and after the expiration of the said thirty years, the Legislature may au- thorize the construction of other Rail Roads between the said places: Provided nevertheless, the said Louisville Rail Road Company shall, after the lapse of said thirty years, be and re- main incorporate and vested as to their own works, with all the estates, rights, powers and privileges, by this act granted and secured, except the exclusive right aforesaid ; but the Legislature may renew and extend that exclusive right, upon such terms as may be prescribed by law, and be accepted by the said incorporated Company. Lamar, Joseph Washburn, and Edward Paddleford, of Chatham county, Amory Sibley, John McKinne, and Hays Bowdree, of Richmond county, and William Dearing, and Asbury Hull,'of the county of Clarke, and their associates, successors, and assigns, shall be a body 174
