and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That
the Sheriff of Heard county, be authorized to sell the State's
interest in lot of land No. 28, in the 13th District, formerly
Carroll, now Heard county, which was condemned as a fraud-
ulent draw ; and that the Sherill'of Heard, have power to do
and to act in reference to the same, in like manner as the Sher-
ir of Carrol could and should have done before the division of
said county of Carroll.
SEc. 2. Andbe itfjurtherenactcd by the authorily aforesaid,
That the money arising from the sale of said land. be placed
in the hands of the Trustees of Heard county Academy, to be
applied to Academic pm-poses.
SEc. 3. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid,
That the Sheriff of said county be, and lie is, hereby authorized
to make titles to the purchaser of said land, as titles usually
made by Shcrill's; any law, usage or custom, to the contrary
notwithstanding.

AN ACT to punish White persons for Gambling     1'- Ne-
groes.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and Hon  of Re-
presentatives of the State of'Georgia, in General Assembly met,
and it is hereby enacted by the auliorily o/' the sane, That
from and after the passage of this act, if any White person or
persons, are found playing aad betting with Negroes, or play-
ing or betting at any game with cards, for the purpose of bet-
ting upon, or winning or losing money, or any other thing or
things, article or articles of value, or any property or any other
article or articles, thing or things of value, may be indicted,
and on conviction thereof, shall be imprisoned at hard labor in
the Penitentiary, for any time not less than one, nor longer than
three years.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid,
