Be it there fore enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of ihe State of Georgia in General Assem- ly met, That all said children heretofore born,-to wit, Jlhn, Grove, Henry, William, Hetty, Eliza, and Frank,-by and in consequence of said intermarriage between the said Paschal Hickman and Fanny his wife, shall be, and they are hereby declared to be free, and placed on the same footing that free persons of colour are usually placed in this State, and entitled to inherit from the said Paschal, as their father, any property which by the laws of this State would go to his children should he die without a will. Whereas, Solomon Humphries, a free person of colour, has paid to the former owners of Patsy and Cyrus, his wife and father, the price asked for them- Be it therefore enacted by the Senate and House of Represent- atives of the State of Georgia in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That from and immediately after the passing of this act, the said Patsy and Cyrus, the wife and father of Solomon Humphries, and 231
