hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That from and
after the first day of February next, any owner of slaves
within the counties of Morgan, Putnam, and Greene, or
executor, administrator, guardian, trustee, or agent, having
charge of or control over any slave or slaves within the
counties aforesaid, who shall hire to any slave or slaves
under their respective charge or control his or their time,
or shall permit such slave or slaves, for consideration or
otherwise, to have, hold, and enjoy the privilege of labouring
or otherwise transacting business for him or themselves,
except upon the premises of such owner, executor, admin-
istrator, guardian, trustce, or agent, shall be guilty of a high
misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof before any court
of competent jurisdiction in this State shall be punished by
a fine not exceeding three hundred nor less than thirty dol-
lars,-any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

AN ACT to alter and amend an act assented to the 23d
December, 1833, entitled  An Act concerning free per-
sons of colour, their guardians, and coloured preachers.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
of the S&ate of Georgia in General Assembly met, and it is
hereby unacted by the authority of the same, That from and
immediately after the passage of this act, Henry Adams, a
free person of colour, who is now residing without the
limits of the State of Georgia, but who is a native of the
same, and a regularly ordained preacher of the Gospel, of the
