AN ACT to alter and amend an ret to imposc an additional tax on Pedhirs and other Itinc. dnt Traders, passed ninth December, eighteen hundred and twenty-four,.aud.to pun- ish such traders for illegal trading With slaves. See. 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Represen- latives of the State of Georgia, in General Assembly met, That from and after the passage of this act, the tax required of Pedlers and other Itinerant Traders, who may carry about their wares and Imerchandize in wagons or other vehicles drawn by horses or mules, or packed upon horses or mules or other animals of draught or hurthen, shall le two thousand dollars for each license; which license shall be limited to one county only in this State, and which shall not authorise tra- ding beyond the limits of such county. And thnt the tax re- quired ofthose Pedlers or Itinerant Traders who may carry about their wares and merchandize on foot, and wiihout the aid of horses or mules or other animals, shall be annually oppe thousand dollars, subject to the same restrictions and limits- TAX. 229
