Whereas, the legislature at their last session, did pass a resolu' tion authorising the Governor to deliver to William Bowen the Alri- cans now in custody of the state, and also the balance of money as proceed, of Africans3 hereinfore sold, and it appearing that one of the conditions on which such delivery was founded, is impossible to be complied with-for temedy whreof.: He it resolved by the Senate and the House of Representatives of the State of Georgia in General .lssembly met, That immediaely after the passing of this resolution, it may and shall be the duty of his excellency the Governor to deliver, or cause to be delivered to Wi liami Bowen, all the Vfrican negroes now in the custody or con- trol of the State, and also to pay, or cause to be paid to the said Wil- liam Howen, whatever sum of money remains unexpended of the pro- ceeds of Atricans heretofore sold by said State, on the condition that the raid William Bowen do execute to the Governor a full release of all claims on 'the State for her interference or detention of said slaves and proceeds: Provided nevertheless, that the said William Bowen pay to Henry Darnell, in satisfaction for services rendered in taking care of said Africans, the sun) of two hundred and fifty dol- lars, or execute to him a sufficient conveyance for a negro woman and two children, a portion of said Africans now in possession of said Darnell. Approved, 4th December, 1826. IN SENATE, 21st November, 1826. Resolved, That his excellency the Governor be requested, and he 'is hereby authorised to have each of the portraits in the State House c4vered in such manner as he may think proper, for the purpose of avoiding injury from dust, flies, &c. Approved, 4th December, 1826.
