Be it enacted by the Senate and house of Representatii~es of ths State of Georgia in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That fron and alter the pasage tf this act, it shall not be lawful for any merchairt. shop-keeper, or any per- bns whatever, to trade with any slave or slaves, Iree* negroes or umu- lattoes, with or without a ticket, after sunset or befoie sunrise in the oounty of Liberty. Sec. 2. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, That Lf any slave or slaves, free negroes or nalattoeal, St.I4 ue seel$ in any store, shop, or tipling house, with any articles of sale within the a- furesaid prohibited hours, it shall be t.ken and r. ceived as evidence against the person or persons owning, or peison keeping the sMore, shop, or tipling house. of a violation of this act: Provided neverthe- less, that riothing herein contaided shall be so constroed a's to p-C *ent the owner or owners of said store, shop, or tipling house, from supplying any written order of the owner, overseer, or manager of any such slave or slaves, free negroes or inulartoes. Sec. 3. And be itffurther enacted by the authority aforesaid, That if any person or persons shall violate the before r.'cired act. he, she, or they shall, for the first offence, be fined in the sum of two huitdred and fifty dollars, with imprisonment in the common jult for a period ACTS 1826. 5 65
