AN ACT
-To carry into effect the last will and testament of James Robipson,
late of Greene county, deceased, and to emancipate a temale slave
by the name of Rachel.
WnaIAs, the said James Robinson, prior to his death, made a will,
EAntaining a clause, among other things, emnancipating a female slave
by tle name of Rachel, the l.roerty of him the said Jameb ; and
whereas the saiti James, required his executors, to carry this claype of
his will into execution, by procuring a legislative act to legalise the
same ; and the said female slave being desirous of removing to her
native state, Maryland :
lBe it therefore enacted bU the Senate and House of Representativj4
of the State of Georgia in General .Assemblq inet, and it is hereby
nacted by the authority of the same, That from the passage of this
act, the said female slave Rachel, be, and she ib hereby fully and com
pletely emafncijated and set free according to the intent and meaning
of the will of him, the said James Robinson : Provide;, that said ne-
gro Rachel be, and she is hereby liable to all the fines, penalties and
privileges, now imposed and allowed in this state to free people of col-
our, Provided always that the said Rachel shall not be entitled to the
benefits of this act if found in this state within one year after the pa-
ling of this act.
