WHEREAS at a Superior Court held in and for the county of Jackson, for October term, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and four, a certain Chatten Doggett Scroggen, was con- victed of the crinze of murder, as principal in the se- cond degree; and received sentence of death, to be executed on the twenty.sixth day of October, in the said year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and four; but on the petition of sundry persons, in. habitants of Faid counties of Jackson and Clarke, and others, to his Excellency the Governor, praying a reipite for the said Chatten Doggett Scroggen, -which ivas granted until the fourteench day of De- cember next. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Represent. atives of the Slate of Georgia, in General A3semblU ict, and by the aulhoriiy of the same, That from and immediately after the passing of this act, the said Chatten Doggctt Scroggen, be, and he is hereby de. clared to be freely, fully and entirely pardoned, ex. onerated and discharged from the pains and penalties of his said conviction, as fully, freely, and entirely, ns if such offence had never been done or committed b him.
