AN ACT
To incorporate the city of Frcrnandina.
Be it enacted by the Governor and Legislative C'oun.
cil ot the Territory of Florida, That all the free
white inhabitants of that part of Amclia Island, known
by the name ofFarnandina, and comprehended with-
in a line beginning at a point onl the east bautk of A-
ielia river, and due west ofthe centre of the old re-
doubt or w'ater battery of said citk,, thence southward- outdafic5.
ly along the eastern bank of the said Amelia river
fourteen hundred yards, thence along a section of a
circle, whote radius is fourtcen hundred yards distant
from the said point of beginning to a point on the
eastern bank of the said Amelia river, and thence
southwardly along tlue eas'ern bank of the said Ante-
lia river to the point of beginning, and their sue-
cessors, be and remain for the term of eight years, a
body corporate by the name and style of the city of
Fernandina, and by their corporate name they may
sue and be sued, implead and be impleaded, and do all
other acts, as natural persons, and nay purchase and
hold real, personal and mixed property, or dispose
of the same for the benefit of the said city.
Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, That the'overn-
ment of the said city shall be vested in a city council
to be composed of a Mayor and five Aldermen, each  Governteit.

fill either, of the said offices.
