AN ACT To provide for levying a Poll Tax. .Be it enacted by the Governor and Legislative Council of the Territory of I'lorida, That from and after the first day of January, which will be in the year one thou- sand eight hundred and twenty rout, there shall be le- vied and collected yearly and every year, a tax of twenty five cents upon the head of each and every free male inhabitant of this Territory, who shall be of the age of twenty one years and upwards, and upon each aud every able bodied slave above the age of seven- teen years, and not exceeding the age of fifty years, to be paid by the owner of such slac or slaves.
