AN ACT for the relief of A. S. Lockart.
1VHEREAs, A. S. Lockart was, on the 25th day of July, 1861, ap-
pointed commissary of the 14th Arkansas regiment commanded
by Col. William C. Mitchell, and
IIEREAS, in the discharge of his duties, the said Lockart pur-
chased flour, beef, etcetera, for the use of his regiment, of sundry
persons and hired and employed hands to deliver flour and beef
to him at his quarters, and to herd beef cattle until required for
consumption, in discharge of which duties he incurred a debt
amounting to two hundred and one dollars and fifty cents, there-
fore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas,
That the military board is hereby required to audit and pay the
account of said A. S. Lockart for such expenditures and for said
sum of two hundred and one dollars and fifty cents out of any
moneys heretofore placed under the control of said board, re-
maining unexpended.
APPROVED, Noveuber 26th, 1862.
AN ACT for the relief of B. L. Brittin and Company.
VHRu s, heretofore, William A. Alexander as the sheriff and
assessor and collector of Hlempstead county, for the year 1860,
assessed by error, the said firm of B. L. Brittin & Co. in the sum
of thirty thousand dollars, for merchandise imported during the
year 1859, when, in fact, the said firm had imported merchandise
to the amount of twelve thousand dollars, whereby said firm was
required to pay the collector of said county the sum of thirty dol-
lars, as State taxes, in excess of the amount which should have
been actually paid; therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas,
That the auditor be instructed to draw his warrant upon the
treasurer in favor of said B. L. Brittin and Co. for the sum of
thirty dollars and that the same be paid out of the State treasury.

estate, slaves and stock; most of the slaves being young and of
no great immediate value, and,
