AN ACT for the relief of Christopher and Jane Thompson of &ott
county.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State
of Arkansas, That Christopher and Jane Thompson, free persons
of color, be permitted, and they are hereby authorized to remain
on their own premises in Scott county, on condition that they
enter into such bond and security for good behavior as may be
required of them by the count% court of said county.
SEC. 2. That John Thomas, alias John Fowler, a free man of
color, shall be permitted to remain in the county of Pulaski, by
entering into bond for his good behavior with such securities as
the county court of said county may require.
SEc. 3. Be it further enacted, That this act take effect and be in
force from and after its passage.
APPROVED, November 27th, 1862.
AN ACT to pay the Secretary of State, Auditor and Treasurer each a
specified salary.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of
Arkansas, That the secretary of state for his services, be and he is
hereby allowed the sum of two thousand dollars per annum;
that the treasurer be and he is hereby allowed the sum of twenty-
five hundred dollars per annum, and that the auditor be and he is
hereby allowed the sum of twenty-five hundred dollars per annum
for a full compensation for each of said officers, and that all laws
providing for the payment of any fees to the said officers, be and
the same are hereby repealed: Provided, That any person who
may call for copies of any record, or plat, or paper, and receive
the same, shall pay the fees now allowed by law, and parties at
law desiring certified copies of any record or paper for exhibits,
shall pay the fees for making the same, and all applications for
copies shall be filed in the order in which they may be pre-
sented, and no person shall be entitled to have his work or labor
done until former applications shall have been disposed of, and
all such fees shall be paid into the State treasury, and the treas-
urer shall keep a just account of the same.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That the auditor be and he is
hereby allowed one first clerk, who shall be paid a salary of
$1,200 a year, and such other number of clerks to carry on the
business of his office as may be actually necessary, at the
monthly pay, not exceeding one hundred dollars, but not to be
kept in the office any longer than actually necessary for the
transaction of the business of the office.
SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That the treasurer be and he is
