the ratification of peace between the United States and the Con-
federate States of America.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That all persons entitled to such
rights be required to make proof and payment for said lands,
within six mouths after the expiration of the time specified in
the first section of this act.
SEc. 3. Be it further enacted, That it shall be the duty of the
proper land officer in each land district, to file said applications
in his office; and when two or more persons conflict as to their
claims for pre-emption rights, to notify all the claimants, and
appoint a time when he shall bear their evidence and decide their
case.
SEc. 4. And be it further enacted, That this act take effect and
be in force from and after its passage.

AN ACT to amend an act to facilitate the circulation of the Arkansas
war bonds and treasury warrants.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of
Arkansas, That section three of said act passed November 18th,
1861, be and the same is hereby amended so as to authorize com-
mon school commissioners, and internal improvement commis-
sioners to receive Confederate money in payment of debts due,
or to become due the respective funds over which they have
control.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of
Arkansas, That iny slave, duly convicted of the crime of arson,
shall suffer the punishment of death.
Suc. 2. Every slave convicted of robbery shall receive upon his
bare back, not less than one hundred, nor more than three hun-
dred lashes.
Sirc. 3. Every slave convicted of larceny shall receive on his
bare back, not less than fifty nor more than two hundred lashes.
SEC. 4. Every slave convicted of burglary, shall receive, on his
bare back, not less than one hundred nor more than three hun-
dred lashes.
SEC. 5. The definition of felony, as now defli d by law, for the
