AN ACT to further extend the provisions of an act concerning the
cultivation of cotton, approved March 21st, 1862.
SECTIoN 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Sate of
Arkansas, That the provisions of the above recited act, be and are
hereby extended and to remain in full force and effect till such
time as the governor shall think fit to suspend the same by
proclamation, who is hereby authorized to do so, when in his
judgment such proclamation is thought prudent and necessary.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That this act be in force from and
after its passage.

AN ACT to protect the interest and rights of persons holding certifi-
cates of pre-emption to any of the swamp and overflowed lands of
this &ate.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the &ate of
Arkansas, That the provisions of an act entitled, An act to pro-
hibit the further sale of the public lands of this State, and for
other purposes, approved 21st March, 1862. be extended in all
its provisions and apply to all persons holding certificates of pre-
emption, to any of the swamp and overflowed lands of this State,
and which certificates expire by the first day of January, 1863,
and that such pre-emptors shall have the period of three months
after the ratification of peace between the United States and the
Confederate States, to pay out the same, Provided, That all pre-
emptors in the army of the Confederate States at the time of the
ratification of the treaty of peace. shall have the period of twelve
months thereafter to pay out their pre-emptions.
SEC. 2. This act shall have full force and effect without any
further action on the part of the State officers in the certificates,
and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
APPROVED, November 28th, 1862.
AN ACT for the relief of David A. Stuart as sheriff and collector
of the county of Franklin.
WEREAs, David A. Stuart as sheriff and collector of the county
of Franklin has not as yet paid into the treasury of the State of
Arkansas, the taxes due from said county to the State of Ar-
kansas for the year 1861, as he was required by law to do, there
being due from him as such sheriff and collector as aforesaid the
sum of $2,418.83; and
