SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the &ate of
Arkansas, That any and every person in this State, who shall
conspire with any other person or persons to subvert or destroy,
or impair the authority of the government of the Confederate
States of America; or who shall conspire with any person or
persons to re-establish in whole or in part, or to any extent the
authority of the government of the United States of America
whether any act be done in pursuance of any such conspiracy
or not; and any person who shall join, or who may hereafter be
a member of any society or association, whether open or secret
and by whatsoever name called or known, tihe object of which in
whole or in part is or may be to subvert or destroy or impair the
authority of the government of the, Confederate States of Amer-
ica, or to re-establish in whole or in part or to any extent the
authority of the government of the United States of America, or
to aid and assist the United States of America, or any officer,
soldier or emissary thereof in the prosecution of the existing war
against the Confederate States of America, or to withdraw the
allegiance and fidelity of any citizen or citizens of the Confeder-
ate States of America, or of the State of America [Arkansas]
fromt the governments thereof respectively, or to induce the people
of the State of Arkansas or any one or more of then to adhere
to or expect protection from the government of the United States
of America; any such person or persons so offending, shall be
deemed guilty of a felony.
Sue. 2. Be it further enacted, That any person within this State
not being an officer or soldier in the military service of the Con-
federate States of America, or of the State of Arkansas, who shall
counsel, persuade, advise, or assist any officer or soldier in the
military service of the Confederato States of America, or of the
State of Arkansas, to desert such service, whether such desertion
be effected or not, shall be deemed guilty of a felony.
Siee. 3. Be it further enacted, That any person or persons within
this State who shall act as guide to the enemy or any one or more
of tihe army thereof, or who shall be engaged in giving, sending,
or carrying any information, message or communication to the
said enemy, the United States of America, or any officer or sol-
dier belonging to the army thereof, or connected therewith, or any
other person or persons adhering to the said United States, about
any matter or thing concerning the conduct of the existing war
and with intent to aid or assist in anywise the said enemy shall
be deemed guilty of a felony.
Sec. 4. Be it further enacted, That any and every person or per-
sons within this State who shall sell or deliver to the said enemy
or any one or more of them or to any agent or person whatsoever,
